Cup Ceremony

In a recent ceremony the couple included a cup ceremony:

I hold up the empty cup.

"This cup is symbolic of the new life you are about to begin together. As you pour your wine into this cup, you pledge yourselves to a new future, together."

(The bride and groom each take a cup and pour wine (or water) into the third cup.)

I hold up the cup.

"From this moment on, let your lives be intermingled as the wine within this cup: each brings its own character, and together they become something more than they once were."
